System Engineer, Hands

1X builds safe humanoid robots that work alongside people at home and in factories. The System Engineer role involves designing, integrating, and maintaining complex robotic/automation systems with an emphasis on tactile sensing and perception.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years experience in systems engineering, robotics integration, or complex electromechanical products
• Hands-on experience with tactile sensing, force/torque sensors, or haptics-related instrumentation
• Strong debugging skills using lab equipment and software tools
• Experience writing system requirements, interface control documents, and V&V plans
• Proficiency with Linux and scripting (Python/Bash) for automation and test tooling
• Understanding of real-time/embedded systems and communication protocols
• Familiarity with robotics frameworks and middleware and sensor fusion concepts
• Strong cross-functional communication and ability to work in fast-paced prototype environments
