Clinical Specialist, Surgery

The Clinical Specialist, Surgery, helps develop policies, standards, and legislation to ensure safe and effective acute care operations. This role involves implementing policies, enforcing standards, and researching innovative solutions for future demands like an aging population, patient flow, capacity and wait time challenges.

Requirements

• University degree in a clinical health field
• Current registration in good standing with an Alberta professional college
• Four (4) years of clinical experience in surgical care in Alberta
• Strong working knowledge of acute care operations, including specific knowledge of surgery operations
• Understanding of government structure, legislative frameworks, and the Alberta health care system
• Sound knowledge of health care providers and their roles
• Experience with policy development in multi-stakeholder environments
• In-depth knowledge of health system priorities, acute care delivery, and relevant political, economic, and global issues
