Alcon is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Development to lead a small team of software engineers while actively contributing as a hands-on developer. This position requires extensive hands-on experience in C#/.NET WPF development, deep knowledge of medical device software standards, and proven leadership in agile environments.
Requirements
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a small team of software engineers.
- Conduct performance evaluations, career development planning, and resource allocation.
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Ensure alignment of team deliverables with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain applications in C#/.NET WPF.
- Author and review software engineering documentation including requirements, architecture, detailed design, and test protocols.
- Implement and maintain automated unit testing and test automation frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with IEC 62304 and other applicable medical device software standards.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making.
- Manage project schedules, risks, and deliverables for safety-critical software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Regulatory, and Systems Engineering.
- Drive continuous improvement in software development processes and practices.
- Establish sustainable practices for talent acquisition, development, and retention to meet current and future needs.
- Foster a high-performance engineering culture focused on innovation, agility, and continuous learning.
- Play a pivotal role in shaping Alcon’s software development practices, driving innovation, and scaling the group into a larger, more mature engineering organization.
