The Executive Medical Director (EMD) role is responsible for overseeing 2 or more programs, providing oversight/guidance/mentoring to Medical Directors and Clinical Development Scientists, and serving on cross-asset strategic teams. The EMD may also have responsibility for development of regulatory strategy, therapeutic area and other functional strategies.
