Lead Electric Motor Design Engineer

Lead Electric Motor Design Engineer role at ALTEN, supporting activities in the Aerospace sector, with a focus on R&D and R&T engineering programmes, working on complex projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring designs meet industry standards and internal governance.

Requirements

• Proven experience in mechanical design of rotating electrical machines / motors for electric vehicles or related applications
• Strong background in mechanical product design within R&D or R&T programmes
• Experience with multi-disciplinary engineering collaboration (stress, thermal, NVH, V&V, industrialisation, quality)
• Ability to review, approve and provide technical authority on mechanical designs
• Understanding of Design to Cost, Design for Manufacture (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
• Proficient in CAD tools such as CATIA, NX, Creo or SolidWorks
• Knowledge of engineering standards and regulations relevant to high-integrity mechanical systems
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills in complex engineering projects
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience
• Proven track record in rotating machinery or electric motor mechanical design
• Experience in R&D or R&T programmes, ideally within the automotive or EV sectors
• Familiarity with engineering design standards, manufacturing processes, and validation/testing procedures
