The Ambulatory Pharmacist interprets physicians' prescriptions and compounds and dispenses medications within regulatory guidelines. This position is categorized as compliance critical and requires continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Evaluating, preparing, and dispensing of medications
- Verifying prescribed medications according to professional standards, facility procedures, and state and federal legal requirements
- Performing medication reconciliation processes
- Ensuring excellent customer service and clinical care
- Consulting with patients regarding individual medications or supplies prescribed
- Interacting closely with patients to answer questions and concerns regarding their medication therapy
- Reviewing and evaluating patient's plan of care for therapeutic appropriateness
- Participating in achieving business goals and metrics for the ambulatory pharmacy
- Assisting in the fiscal management of the ambulatory pharmacy
- Managing ambulatory pharmacy technicians
- Maintaining and executing all established procedures concerning quality improvement, quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and record keeping
- Submitting, reviewing, and handling all adjudicated prescription claims
- Establishing, supervising, and maintaining all pricing tables, special tier pricing and related pricing structures
- Providing consultation on pharmacy and therapeutic matters
- Assisting and reviewing daily reporting and scheduling of hours worked for the pharmacy technicians
- Supervising activities relative to patient profiles and contacts
- Participating in departmental meetings and in-service training for pharmacy technicians
- Working collaboratively with organizational personnel on quality, satisfaction, service excellence, clinical care, etc.
