Senior Staff Safety Engineer, Product Safety & Vehicle Compliance (Homologation)

Aurora is seeking a Senior Staff Safety Engineer to join their Product Safety & Homologation team. This role is critical in ensuring their autonomous trucking products meet high safety standards and regulatory compliance, partnering across engineering, operations, legal, and government relations. The engineer will lead homologation, monitor regulatory changes, audit compliance programs, and act as an external expert representative with regulators and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical field
• 10+ years in compliance, regulatory, or systems engineering roles
• Expert knowledge of automotive and autonomous vehicle regulatory codes and standards
• Direct experience with homologation, type approval, or certification of light-duty or commercial/heavy-duty vehicles
• Proven experience with non-functional requirements, root-cause analysis, and corrective action planning
• Exceptional communication skills
• Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
