Medium Voltage Splicer

The Medium Voltage Splicer is responsible for performing high-quality splicing, terminating, and testing of underground medium-voltage distribution systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, precision, and reliability, and be willing to travel outside of San Diego as needed.

Requirements

• Perform splicing, terminating, and T-body installations on medium voltage cables using heat shrink, cold shrink, and molded technologies
• Conduct MV switching operations in accordance with utility and site protocols
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer specifications
• Execute cable testing procedures including Megger, VLF/Tan Delta, continuity, phasing, and voltage verification
• Collaborate with foremen and project managers to plan and execute work safely and efficiently
• Maintain accurate documentation of splicing activities, test results, and materials used
• Ensure proper grounding and bonding of electrical systems
• Adhere to all safety protocols including lockout/tagout, PPE usage, and confined space procedures
• Participate in job site safety meetings and contribute to a culture of safety and accountability
• Train and mentor apprentices or junior splicers as needed
