Job Description
Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Protocol Engineer to drive the success of their onchain platform by enabling and accelerating the scaling of the Base chain. The role involves research and development to improve throughput, scaling the OP stack, and enabling new possibilities with ZK systems. The team focuses on both open-source development and scaling the base layer infrastructure for Base to enable a billion users onchain.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering
- Research experience in scaling, parallelization, protocols, or distributed databases
- Proven leadership in scaling existing systems
- Familiarity with EVM and client software
- Understanding of the Ethereum scaling roadmap
- Executive communication skills
- Knowledge of Ethereum state management architectures (e.g., Erigon, Reth)
