Requirements
- Use appropriate hand and power tools to repair, replace or perform maintenance on equipment
- Receive equipment, document the condition, schedule maintenance, and keep equipment service records
- Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear
- Adjust and maintain industrial machinery
- Repair and replace damaged or worn parts, and fabricate needed parts or items from sheet metal
- Safely dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment
- Clean parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solvent
- Weld or solder broken parts and structural members
- Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems
- Research, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairs
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
- Assist equipment operators in completing daily equipment inspections
- Assure that equipment leaving the job or warehouse is Job-ready for the next assignment
- May act as a lead and direct other professionals
- May supervise work of others
- May provide supervision, training development, and performance management of others
- Identify and assess improvement opportunities and participate in continuous improvement efforts
- Participate in and/or lead all safety related processes and programs as requested
- Report all accidents and near misses to supervisor; participate in investigation process as needed
- Participate in and/or lead all pre-job work planning and safety discussions
