Machinist sets up and operates machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments, applying basic principles and limited industry knowledge.
Requirements
- Experience in the safe operation of fabrication shop equipment such as manual lathes, mills, and saws
- Experience in the safe operation of CNC lathes and mills
- Knowledge of CADCAM software
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings with GD&T
- Ability to analyze CAD software files to incorporate into machine programming and setup
- Ability to perform inspections on completed parts using various calibrated measuring equipment and identify and report nonconformance features
- Ability to execute machining techniques, select tooling requirements, and formulate sequencing and set up fixtures to produce conforming fabrications
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
- HS diploma or GED
