Mate

A USCG officer serving as a backup to the vessel captain, working longline fishing operations. This role requires being physically and mentally challenging with long hours and demanding travel, working 16-hour shifts from remote locations. Typical trips are 4-60+ days, depending on the season and fishing conditions.

Requirements

• USCG Licensing required (500+ GRT or greater uninspected fishing vessel license)
• Familiarity with all aspects of longline fishing required
• Drill Instructor certification
• HACCP certification
• Administering random and post-accident drug screenings
• Ability to supervise deck operations and handling gear
• Ability to maintain accurate fishing records
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
