A USCG officer serving as a backup to the vessel captain, working longline fishing operations. This role requires being physically and mentally challenging with long hours and demanding travel, working 16-hour shifts from remote locations. Typical trips are 4-60+ days, depending on the season and fishing conditions.
Requirements
- USCG Licensing required (500+ GRT or greater uninspected fishing vessel license)
- Familiarity with all aspects of longline fishing required
- Drill Instructor certification
- HACCP certification
- Administering random and post-accident drug screenings
- Ability to supervise deck operations and handling gear
- Ability to maintain accurate fishing records
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
