Design Technician I Design - Indirect

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Truss Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating accurate and efficient roof and floor truss designs using specialized software, ensuring all designs meet building codes, customer specifications, and manufacturing capabilities.

Requirements

• Design and engineer roof and floor truss systems based on architectural and structural plans
• Use truss design software (MiTek SE) to create layouts, drawings, and fabrication details
• Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and building codes to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Communicate and collaborate with builders, engineers, architects, sales teams, and production staff to clarify design details and resolve technical issues
• Optimize designs for material efficiency, structural integrity, and cost-effectiveness
• Prepare and issue shop drawings and material list for production
• Assist in estimating and bidding processes when needed
• Maintain organized records and documentation for each project
• Stay current with industry standards, code updates, and software developments
