The EHS Leader is responsible for implementing and monitoring safety and environmental related programs and procedures in the areas of health, safety, and sustainability for all sites within the operating company.
Requirements
- Ensure operating company compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to health and safety including ISO and OSHA standards and procedures
- Complete regular audits related to safety compliance and to identify safety, health, and environmental risks
- Manage the operating company Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) database
- Provide safety support, guidance, and oversight
- Mentor team and leaders in the area of EHS
- Lead workplace safety committees for all operating company sites
- Lead meaningful incident investigations to identify root cause(s), create action plan(s), and ensure implementation of preventative measures
- Lead safety visits/audits including any conducted by OSHA
- Establish curriculum, deploy, conduct, and ensure completion of safety training
- Conduct training on proper use of equipment and safety hazards for employees and/or identify other internal experts or third-party vendors to complete these requirements
- Develop a sustainable safety culture by engaging the workforce through hazard recognition process and providing support and assistance on procedures
- Manage environmental regulatory compliance
- Investigate, educate on and implement effective practices to reduce environmental impact
- Participate in Cretex Environmental Sustainability initiatives as operating representative
- Complete customer or industry environmental initiative and data surveys on behalf of the operating company
- Establish and maintain requirements for chemical exposure assessments and hazardous material monitoring to reduce potential of adverse effects to employees and environment
- Facilitate safety operational excellence (OE) improvement opportunities
- Coordinate and conduct emergency response and training drills
- File required regulatory and customer environmental reports
- Coordinate with internal experts to properly plan and document safe usage and discharge of hazardous chemicals and waste
- Manage cross-functional teams in the implementation of ergonomics programs
- Perform indoor air and noise assessments
- Manage required programs such as respiratory protection, hazard communication, hearing conservation, lockout/tagout, forklift safety, safety glasses, etc.
