The Summer Student - Technical Assistant provides support to the operational activities of the assigned unit by providing information to property owners, contractors, designers, real estate developers, and the general public related to general requirements and standards in construction and building permits, as well as performing related inspections.

Requirements

• Post-secondary studies - having completed second-year college or university studies in civil engineering or architecture
• Relevant experience of at least two years required in construction or reading and preparing technical plans and drawings
• Experience in reading or preparing plans or technical drawings is an asset
• Valid Ontario driver's license category G without restriction (or equivalent provincial) and a maximum of 6 penalty points
• Language requirements: Mastery of English, French, or both may be required
• Computer skills (e.g. use of design software, PAM, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word and Excel)
• Mathematics and good spatial recognition
