Job Description
The City of Somerville is seeking a Local Building Inspector to perform inspections and enforce building codes. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction supervision and municipal code enforcement, and be able to acquire a Massachusetts building inspector license.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of inspection procedures
- Complete knowledge of relevant municipal operations
- Knowledge of construction methods
- Ability to acquire a general knowledge of the provisions of the local and state zoning ordinances
- Knowledge of basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
- Must possess a current valid Massachusetts Class III drivers license
- Access to a motor vehicle during all working hours
- Bi-lingual ability preferred
- Must be computer literate, with good oral and writing skills
