COORDINATOR PROGRAMS

The Coordinator, Programs will support the Service Planning & Integrity (SPI) and/or the Homeless Initiatives & Prevention Services (HIPS) Sections in Toronto Shelter and Support Services (TSSS) Division in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and programs that effectively and equitably connect individuals experiencing homelessness with housing and support opportunities.

Requirements

• Post-secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function (i.e. public administration, social work, social science, community development or social science) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience leading projects and/or coordination of complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, with ability to manage timelines, deliverables, and competing priorities in a highly organized and detail-oriented manner.
• Experience in planning and coordinating stakeholder engagements to inform program design and planning, including but not limited to engaging with community organizations, program staff, and residents, and/or people with lived experience of homelessness.
• Experience in the planning, development, implementation, and/or evaluation of programs and policies that address the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Experience planning and conducting research and analysis on housing and/or homelessness issues (focus on specifically homelessness issues is preferred).
• Ability to effectively direct and motivate project teams.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills with ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of staff and external stakeholders.
• Good judgment in public relations with the ability to effectively manage communications to community and government agencies, committees, and coalitions, etc.
• Highly developed problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of effective methodologies for data collection and analysis
• Knowledge of current issues and trends in homelessness, affordable and social housing, systematic inequities and responsibilities of levels of government.
• Knowledge of collective agreements, City guidelines, policies, applicable statutes, municipal by-laws, and relevant legislation including Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code and Occupational Health & Safety Act.
