Research Engineer Intern (Spring/Jan 2026)

Cloudflare is seeking a Research Engineer Intern to join their Research Team and contribute to the development of security, privacy, and systems at scale. The team focuses on solving challenging problems related to scaling and securing the Internet. Interns will work on a variety of projects under the guidance of experienced researchers. This is an in-office position in Lisbon, Portugal for 12 weeks in January 2026.

Requirements

• Evidence of tackling hard or open-ended problems
• Proven track record of peer-reviewed research, open-source software contributions, or standards development
• Experience communicating research ideas through papers, pre-prints, standards documents, blogs, or similar media
• Ability to work in a systems-level programming language (e.g. Rust, C, Go)
• Passion for debugging and ensuring system reliability
• Willingness to commit to a minimum 12 week summer internship starting in January 2026
• Availability to intern and work
