Principal Mechanical Engineer

Coherent Corp. is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to define automated systems specifications, select components, layout designs, and develop automated assembly, test, and inspection systems. The role requires a strong background in solid-state device design and manufacturing processes. Collaboration with teams and various engineering support is key.

Requirements

• Minimum 9 years of mechanical engineering experience in automated process and test systems development
• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree
• Familiarity with small tooling fixture design is preferred
• Knowledge of laser technology is preferred
• Experience with semi-automated and automated processing systems
• Meticulous and thorough design documentation
• Ability to work in fast paced team and independent setting
• Knowledge of machining, vision, and electrical engineering is useful
