The Solid Surface Technician, CIM is responsible for fabricating and assembling solid surfaces (i.e. Corian countertops) using a variety of machinery and other tools.
Requirements
- Maintains an assigned schedule.
- Completes work in accordance with specification in the Corian Fabrication Manual.
- Maintains workspace and cleans up the machine/work area, including dust and cutoffs.
- Assists with the organization of cut sheets and analyzing part requirements to minimize waste and increase output using proper utilization of cut off waste (acceptable waste factor is less than 10%).
- Manages output to meet assigned deadlines and communicate any and all delays to supervisor.
- Ensures proper sizing, pattern direction, and hole locations are achieved.
- Monitors the operating machine at all times.
- Verifies dimensions or checks the quality/fit of pieces to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Sets up or operates machines, including power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders, or shapers, to cut, mold, or shape solid surfaces.
- Reinforces joints in accordance with the fabrication manual.
- Attaches parts or subassemblies together to form completed units, using glue, dowels, nails, screws, or clamps.
- Assists with the specifications of articles to be constructed or repaired or plan the methods or operations for shaping or assembling parts, based on blueprints, drawings, diagrams, or oral or written instructions.
- Cuts Solid Surfaces to the right size and shape and trim parts of joints to ensure a snug fit, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or clamps.
- Trims, sands, or scrapes surfaces or joints to prepare articles for finishing.
