MLT

Medical Laboratory Technician performs high complexity, routine and specialized clinical Lab tests for use in diagnosis and treatment of patients by physicians.

Requirements

• Perform routine and high complexity tests
• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing
• Document corrective actions and maintain records
• Assist with proficiency-testing samples and maintain records
• Adhere to laboratory quality control policies
• Identify and correct problems that may affect test performance or reporting
• Assist in orientation and instruction of students and new employees
• Prepare reagents and supplies
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
• Maintain and disinfect work area
• Handle biohazard wastes
• Assist in evaluation and validation of testing systems
• Maintain confidentiality of patient, co-worker and business information
