Patent Agent – Mechanical Engineering

Patent Agent with background in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field to join a highly regarded Am Law firm in Boston or Washington, D.C. to work with innovative technologies and help clients protect their intellectual property.

Requirements

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in mechanical, electrical, and computer science disciplines.
• Conduct prior art searches, analyze patent and scientific literature, and prepare freedom-to-operate and clearance opinions.
• Respond to USPTO and international office actions, including analyzing references and crafting persuasive arguments.
• Collaborate with inventors and in-house counsel to understand new technologies and develop tailored patent strategies.
• Contribute to the development and management of client IP portfolios.
• Present findings and strategies clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Participate in a collaborative work environment, with approximately 60% in-office participation expected.
