The Emergency Department Technician is responsible for direct and indirect patient care as assigned and within their scope of practice. The EDT performs a variety of tasks and activities to meet patient and department needs.
Requirements
- Minimum Level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion of high school.
- Formal Training: Requires documented training on phlebotomy procedures and Glucose testing.
- Licensure, Certification, Registration: C.N.A, EMT, or Paramedic certification with the state of Georgia, or Certified Phlebotomist or completion of PCT, CMA, MOA, U.S. Military Medic Program or be currently enrolled in a nursing program at an accredited school and has completed one (1) full semester of clinical rotations. BLS Certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Work Experience: One year of recent experience as an emergency medical technician or two years of recent experience in the medical environment, preferably emergency-related field.
