Mechanical Engineer (Ph.D.)

Exponent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree. The ideal candidate will have experience in electromechanical, controls, engineering mechanics, or machine design issues. The role involves conducting hands-on failure analyses, planning and executing laboratory tests, performing calculations and engineering analyses, and creating written reports and presentations.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree
• Presently legally authorized to work in the United States
• Experience with data collection tools such as data acquisition systems, measurement tools, accelerometers, and/or force transducers
• Experience conducting laboratory testing or other hands-on experience
• Working knowledge of finite element method and numerical analysis platforms such as MATLAB
• Understanding of data analysis techniques using coding languages/packages such as Python or Matlab
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work within project teams with a strong desire to contribute
• Potential for technical and project managerial leadership
• Ability to convey technical information to individuals in engineering, business, legal and related industries
• Willing to travel, sometimes on short notice
• Ability and desire to become a Licensed Professional Engineer
