English Language Learner Teacher vacancy at Friendship Public Charter School in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English language learners and providing support to students from historically underserved communities.
Requirements
- Experience and knowledge of WIDA (World-class Instructional Design and Assessment)
- Conduct WIDA Assessments and report on progress
- Strong ability to interpret WIDA data and report
- Experience with Distance Teaching and Learning
- Extensive experience with educational software (Zoom/Google Meet/ Teams/Google classroom)
- Commitment to providing a world-class education to students from historically underserved communities
- Provide inclusionary instruction and support to ELL students.
- Work with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction.
- Understand and comply with the policies, rules, and regulations regarding English learners.
- Attend IEP, Section 504, or other related meetings necessary for student assessment and/or compliance with federal and/or state law as it relates to English Learners.
- Provide instruction that is aligned with the Friendship Network’s instructional program so as to ensure ELL students meet and/or exceed grade level learning targets
- Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies
- Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence by progress notes, report cards etc.
- Serves as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders
- Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial instruction as to meet the needs of individual students and subgroups of students
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students
- Uses assessment data to refine curriculum; and informs instructional practices.
- Accountable for meeting individual student growth targets for assigned caseload
- Creates a positive, achievement-oriented learning environment.
- Reflects on successes and areas of growth, seeks to improve performance, and responds strategically to feedback.
- Participates in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.
- Invests parents and families in their children’s academic success through regular communication.
- Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
