Job Description
The U.S. Forest Service is seeking a Natural Resource Specialist to lead vegetation inventory and ecological site descriptions in Puerto Rico. This role involves collecting and organizing field data for Ecological Site Descriptions (ESDs), managing data quality, and contributing to technical reports. The position offers flexible work with 20 hours per week, with periodic field work and data analysis.
Requirements
- Plan and conduct field-based vegetation inventories.
- Coordinate logistics for field data collection.
- Archive and organize inventory data following Forest Service standards.
- Assess data quality and ensure integrity of collected data.
- Prepare detailed technical reports.
- Author a General Technical Report.
- Create 2–3 short public-facing materials.
- Prepare and submit a peer-reviewed research publication.
