General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) seeks an Engineering Manager III to oversee a software engineering team developing software for control systems. The manager will apply innovative approaches to resolve unusual or complex engineering problems and exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives for research, design, review, development, and testing of solutions.
Requirements
- Manages software engineers to ensure timely completion of development activities
- May act as primary contact for software engineering activities
- Initiates the planning of engineering projects and develops innovative designs or modifications to meet project goals
- Lead progress review sessions to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance
- Identify software engineering issues and provide leadership in developing solutions
- Supports proposal efforts and the development of new business
- Independently performs difficult/complex engineering work with instructions as to the general expected results
- Performs functional testing of embedded software and control systems
- Comfortable using lab equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network packet sniffers, and serial emulators
- Applies technical knowledge to train others in how to analyze, investigate and resolve engineering problems
- Supports operation of engineering systems, develops appropriate documentation of findings, implements solutions, and communicates results to project leadership
- Ensure technical leadership and professional excellence is maintained by participating in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of software engineers
