Requirements
- Operate machinery such as lathes, drill presses, grinders or milling machines
- Measure, examine or test completed units to verify they are free of defects and meet specifications
- Calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers or calipers
- Monitor machine feed and speed during the machining process
- Maintain machinery in good working order
- Operate equipment to verify its operational efficiency
- Examine sample parts, prints, drawings or engineering data to determine the methods or sequences of operations required to manufacture products
- Design, measure and mark metal preparation to indicate the location of cuts
- Adjust and assemble parts to manufacture or repair machinery
- Prepare or operate metalworking equipment, brazing, heat treatment, welding or cutting equipment
- Install repaired parts on equipment or install new equipment
- Verify treated parts to ensure they are well lubricated or cooled
- Design assemblies, fixtures or experimental parts to meet specific engineering needs
- Support metalworking projects from planning to fabrication through assembly, inspection and testing
- Prepare work sketches to illustrate the appearance of the product
- Test experimental models in simulated operating conditions
- Install experimental parts or assemblies on machines or mechanisms
- Perform other assigned tasks
