Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs inspections, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy construction equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation. Responsible for preventive maintenance, general repairs, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Conducts thorough inspections and reports findings to supervisors. Maintains inventory of tools, parts, and consumables required for maintenance and repairs. Collaborates with project superintendents and field teams to prioritize repairs and minimize equipment downtime.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrain components
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings
• Experience operating or repairing heavy construction equipment is preferred
• Welding and fabrication skills are a plus
• Basic computer and mobile device skills for completing digital work orders and maintenance logs
• Ability to learn internal systems used for inventory tracking and maintenance documentation
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
• Class B CDL preferred but not required
• OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety certification preferred
• Manufacturer or dealer training on heavy equipment maintenance and repair is a plus
