Lead Pharmacy Technician

The Lead Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the Pharmacist-In-Charge and Clinical Pharmacist in the daily operations of the Pharmacy, including inventory management, new-staff orientation, and customer service.

Requirements

• Maintains inventory of all pharmaceuticals
• Provides in-person new staff orientation
• Ensures completion of pharmacy task lists daily
• Collaborates with other departments to ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and patient satisfaction
• Initiates work-orders to vendors or department in the event of software or equipment downtime
• Encourages profitability of pharmacy by processing prescriptions accurately
• Greets guests and provides excellent customer service
• Helps healthcare professionals and patients by answering questions and requests
• Assists pharmacists to ensure the pharmacy is running efficiently
• Maintains records by recording and filing prescriber orders and prescriptions
• Organizes medications for the pharmacist to dispense
• Retrieves the appropriate medication from inventory
• Creates prescription labels and affixes them to prescription containers
• Prepares unit dose packaging and trains other Pharmacy Technicians
• Prepares compounded stock medication
• Generates revenue by calculating, recording, and issuing charges
• Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock and anticipating needed medications and supplies
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
• Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
