
Hillside Inc., founded in 1888, is one of Atlanta’s oldest nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting children and youth aged 7–21 who face severe emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges. The organization offers a comprehensive continuum of care that includes residential treatment, partial–day programs, intensive outpatient services, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) classes. In addition, Hillside integrates innovative therapeutic modalities such as animal–assisted therapy, Theraplay, art therapy, activity therapy, horticulture, and experiential outings to promote holistic healing. The Horticulture Therapy Assistant supports the Recreation Therapy Department by engaging children and adolescents in horticulture activities of both practical and therapeutic value. This role assists in teaching clients how to plant, grow, and care for flowers and plants throughout campus and within the greenhouse.
