Job Description
The Scaled Nanotechnology department at HRL is focused on developing new multifunctional materials and coatings. They use scalable processes to transform fundamental research into commercially viable products, specializing in nano/micro-scale architecture to control properties like wetting, heat transfer, and adhesion. The role involves chemical reactions, polymerizations, material processing, analytical work, and maintaining lab equipment.
Requirements
- Experience with good lab practices (documentation, safety procedures) is essential.
- Experience in a wet chemistry lab environment and synthesizing chemical compounds in a research environment is desired.
- Experience formulating and/or compounding of commercial products and associated characterization is desired.
- Experience with the use of computer software for data storage, organization, and analysis is also desired.
- Understanding of organic and polymer chemistry and some inorganic chemistry and physics.
- Knowledge of chemical analysis, thermal analysis, optical characterization, and basic computer skills (e.g., spreadsheets & word processing).
