The Machine Shop Lead is responsible for overseeing execution of department production demands, leading a team of machinists in setting up and machining production parts, prototypes, and tooling.
Requirements
- Program CNC machines in MasterCam
- Train operators on various machine shop skills
- Autonomously manage departmental functions
- Manufacture and measure product with tolerance < 0.0001”
- Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic machine tools
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials
- Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock
- Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment
- Program computers and electronic instruments
- Confer with engineering, management, and manufacturing personnel
- Establish work procedures for fabricating products
- Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts
- Comply with health and safety policies and procedures
- Support company values including ethical conduct and high integrity
- Operate lathes and mills (both CNC and manual)
- Perform various deburring of metal parts
- Estimate new jobs
- Monitor and edit Kronos timekeeping of the Machine Shop Team
- Conduct daily review of production schedule
- Monitor ECO distribution and change process as needed
- Assist Manufacturing Manager with performance appraisals for machine shop employees
