InMotion Hosting is seeking a part-time Data Center Technician to join our team in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The Data Center Technician will handle incoming tickets, manage the readiness of servers, perform RMA's, rack and unrack servers, and assist with network maintenance.
Requirements
- Experience providing hardware and basic Linux support, preferably in a Data Center environment
- Strong troubleshooting abilities
- Familiarity with Linux and its commands/utilities at a user level
- Basic understanding of run levels, basic Linux networking, partitioning, and running file system checks
- Ability to handle Linux related issues where the server is inaccessible by standard remote access techniques
- Understanding of drive cloning, formatting, mounting, testing, and upgrade procedures
- Entry level experience of shell scripting
- Familiarity with Intel and AMD processors, CPU socket types, Ball-Grid-Array (BGA) and Pin-Grid-Array (PGA), and CPU's on motherboards
- Familiarity with RAM types (Standard, ECC, ECC-REG) and the ability to correctly identify these modules for proper upgrades.
- Knowledge of general networking concepts and switch/router hardware, understanding of switch and/or router language is a plus
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to other associates and customers.
- Ability to detect and resolve problems in an efficient and timely manner, while analyzing business needs.
- Strong English communication skills (spoken and written)
