Underwriter, Syracuse

This position involves reviewing and appraising insurance applications, using knowledge and judgment to determine eligibility for insurance placement. Interacts with companies and brokers via phone, email, and personal contact.

Requirements

• Producer's License
• 3+ years of insurance experience
• Prior exposure to insurance underwriting type activities
• Basic familiarity with computers
• Good oral and written communications skills
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Resourceful and controlled assertive behavior characteristics
• Demonstrated negotiation skills
• Technical knowledge of insurance coverage forms and their application to exposure
• Knowledge of departmental regulations and policies
• Ability to work independently and complete assignments within parameters
• Strong interpersonal skills working with staff and company underwriters
• Experience in standard underwriting practices and procedures
