Langan is seeking a Senior Waterfront/Structural Engineer to join its collaborative team in New York City. This individual will play a key role on projects along the shoreline and will assist in creating design documents for various waterfront structures such as bulkheads, retaining walls, piers, platforms, revetments, breakwaters, fenders, docks, flood resiliency measures, and more.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required, Master's degree in Structural or Geotechnical Engineering or desire to pursue such is strongly preferred;
- 3+ years of related experience in waterfront, structural, or geotechnical engineering;
- FE/PE certification preferred;
- Office experience coordinating investigations and other field work, technical writing, structural/geotechnical design, and preparing construction plans and specifications;
- Prior field experience in waterfront facility inspections, geotechnical explorations, and engineering observations during construction, preferable for waterfront structures;
- Desired software knowledge: Slide or SLOPE/W, SPW911, DeepEx, LPILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, SAP2000, Risa2D/3D;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
- Willingness to spend time in the field observing construction activities and performing required investigations;
- Given the nature of our waterfront work, the ability to swim and operate non-motorized watercraft (e.g. kayak, canoe) is preferred;
- Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing;
