Staff Mechanical Engineer - Exhaust System

Mainspring Energy is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of exhaust systems for their innovative Linear Generator technology. This role involves managing high temperatures, vibration, emissions compliance, and ensuring durability. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, drive innovation, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor junior engineers, contributing to Mainspring's mission of creating clean, affordable, and reliable power generation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
• 8+ years as a professional mechanical design engineer
• Delivered products as a technical lead through 3+ full design lifecycles
• Self-starter with a proven ability to architect and deliver complex, functional designs
• Deep expertise designing components or systems operating in high-temperature and high-vibration environments
• Mastery of engineering fundamentals in thermo-fluid system design and structural mechanics
• Proven ability to design for durability, fatigue life, and reliability
• Demonstrated expertise in acoustic analysis and muffler design, or experience with emissions control systems
• High proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Solidworks preferred)
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials selection, manufacturing processes
• Strong hands-on mechanical prototyping, assembly, and testing skills
• Expertise with engineering analysis tools (FEA)
