Machine Operator - Conditioning

The Machine Operator is responsible for following standard operating procedures in the operation of power tools and production equipment to manufacture plate, sheet, and tubing products. The operator will improve surface condition of rolled products by sanding and/or grinding.

Requirements

• Sands or grinds rolled materials to remove surface imperfections and meet product specifications
• Sets up and operates leveling equipment
• Sets up and operates shears to ensure final product meets the required dimensional specs
• Sets up and operates cleaning equipment for all intermediate and finish products
• Requires mechanical aptitude
• Follows good safety practices, complies with PPE requirements and follows environmental policies
• Must be able to understand specifications and use measuring instruments with assistance
• Requires ability to recognize problems and seek assistance to resolve
• Maintains work area in a clean and orderly way and follows 5S standard work practices
