The Design Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of McCarthy projects by managing the design process and coordinating with project teams.
Requirements
- Define, schedule and monitor quality of design deliverables
- Interface with project teams to develop expectations for content of design documents
- Manage conflicts within design documents
- Manage RFI process
- Manage file system for document control
- Host value analysis sessions
- Become knowledgeable of building codes and ensure compliance
- Coordinate proposal submissions
- Develop RFPs
- Prepare designer and subcontractor scopes of work
- Coordinate contract terms and conditions
- Coordinate VDC and develop workflows
- Coordinate co-location requirements
- Coordinate preconstruction/construction budgets
- Develop plan to monitor design based on target budget(s)
- Coordinate with owner all permits and utility services
- Become familiar with project development agreements
- Coordinate with team initial budgets, GMPs or lump sum values
- Monitor design between estimate updates
- Coordinate/integrate overall design deliverables and construction schedules
- Develop internal costs and metrics
- Develop VDC/BIM execution plan
- Update McCarthy procedures to incorporate best Design Management techniques
- Oversee implementation of McCarthy quality program and procedures
- Review claims and latent defects
- Build effective relationships with Risk Management/Legal, Executive Management/Business Unit leaders and owners/architects/engineers
