The surgical technologist intern assists in the care and preparation of surgical patients, working under the supervision of registered nurses, certified surgical technologists, and surgeons.
Requirements
- Provides patient care across all age-specific populations
- Applies principles and practices before, during and after the surgical procedure
- Demonstrates effective time management and prioritizes patient care
- Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills accurately and within a reasonable time frame
- Participates in performance improvement activities
- Facilitates on time starts and efficient turnover time
- Set-up tables, instruments, and supplies required for surgical procedures
- Issues proper instrumentation to the surgeon
- Practices effective interpersonal skills and utilizes established channels for communication
- Ability to rotate to all surgical areas
- Develops individual goals for professional growth
- Participate in Monthly Department Staff Meetings
