Development Adviser - International Development

We are seeking Development Advisers to contribute to New Zealand's international development efforts. The role involves supporting the development of high-quality policy advice, designing and implementing development programmes, and representing New Zealand in international forums.

Requirements

• Ability to develop and support policy advice on international development issues
• Understanding of policy design, implementation, and evaluation
• Awareness of political context and ability to provide advice that reflects public service responsibilities and Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations
• Relationship-building skills to foster collaboration across teams and engage with diverse stakeholders professionally
• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion principles, and ability to integrate climate resilience and environmental sustainability into advice and planning
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality ministerial briefings and represent New Zealand in international engagements
• Understanding of the Ministry's strategic priorities and a willingness to contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture
