Lead a dynamic communications team at the heart of New Zealand’s foreign policy and international engagement, driving the implementation of a refreshed communications function and helping shape how MFAT engages with New Zealanders, stakeholders, international partners, and global audiences.
Requirements
- Extensive experience leading large, multi-disciplinary teams with a focus on building capability, leading through change, and fostering an engaged, high-performing culture.
- Significant communications leadership, including influencing decision makers and providing high quality advice to senior leaders on complex or ambiguous issues.
- Excellent relationship management skills, with experience partnering effectively with senior leaders, system stakeholders, and diverse external audiences.
- Knowledge of contemporary communications practices.
- Understanding of strategic planning and communications delivery, design, implementation and performance measurement aligned to organisational priorities.
- An interest in international affairs and geopolitics, and an ability to translate global issues into clear, impactful communications for a range of audiences.
- Understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti, Te Reo Māori and Māori customs and protocols.
