Leads research, design, and development activities to improve NYPA’s energy services. Designs, constructs, and tests equipment. Ensures that standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance are met throughout all engineering activities.
Requirements
- Review performance of engineers; establish work performance goals and review individual goals each appraisal period.
- Ensure inspections and evaluations of existing conditions for various electrical equipment and systems for proper installation, problem identification and trouble shooting, or improvements are properly conducted.
- Provide direction to and review the electrical design and drafting personnel in the development of the project drawings
- Review and approve work produced by other engineers, including the designs and specifications ensuring complete, accurate and detailed modification packages, specifications, drawings and documentation.
- Oversee prioritization of requests to ensure deadlines are met.
- Ensure coordination of work with other disciplines and departments for the successful development and execution of the project.
- Oversee inspections and evaluations on vendor products to ensure engineering requirements and Authority needs are satisfied.
- Develop and retain subject matter expertise of NYPA’s large power apparatus including generators, transformers and circuit breakers
- Develop engineering model to support O&M issues at NYPA operating facilities (N/A for CPD Group).
- Develop equipment specifications and design packages and provide technical oversight for all substation, transmission and generation systems. (N/A for CPD Group).
