We are seeking an entrepreneurial and driven Staff Counsel to be a founding member of our new in-house litigation office in Texas. This is a unique opportunity to build a practice from the ground up in alignment with Next's innovative, tech-first approach to insurance.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas, standing in additional jurisdictions preferred.
- Minimum 5-9 years of proven trial attorney experience preferably within Insurance defense litigation or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a significant case load independently and effectively in a fast-paced high-volume environment.
- Strong knowledge of Texas law and civil procedure, particularly as it relates to personal injury, general liability and commercial auto cases.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, negotiation and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in legal case management software, e-discovery tools and remote collaboration technologies.
- Strong business acumen and an 'ownership mentality,' with the ability to capitalize on advancing technology and efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing 'phenomenal service' to internal and external clients.
