The Ohio Lottery Commission is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing journal entries, and maintaining reconciliation documentation. The position requires 30 months of experience in accounting and/or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requirements
- Analyzing assigned general ledger accounts and related financial data
- Performing monthly reconciliations to ensure account balances are accurate
- Preparing and uploading journal entries; verifying ledger accuracy and resolving discrepancies
- Maintaining reconciliation documentation and completing year-end account reconciliations as needed
- Gathering and inputting financial data from various OLC systems and departments
- Researching and resolving transaction errors independently
- Monitoring and reporting cash transactions within custodial accounts held at the State Treasury
- Analyzing agency balance sheet and fund cash accounts
- Estimating available cash based on projected expenditures and obligations
- Preparing weekly cash balance reports and processing intra-fund transfers
- Maintaining and analyzing transfer and EFT files, including projected vs. actual collections
- Tracking Lottery Profits Education Fund transfers and performing liability/jackpot analyses
- Providing financial data from assigned accounts for inclusion in the ACFR
- Researching, organizing, and editing financial statements and reports
- Calculating financial data from balance sheets and income statements
- Creating tables and graphs for inclusion in the ACFR
- Responding to inquiries from the Auditor of State and explaining accounting records
- Preparing estimates for Commission Reports and reconciling prize payment data
- Preparing bank deposits using OAKS FIN
- Processing documentation for warrant cancellations, stop payments, and corrections
- Maintaining organized files and updating accounting procedures
- Complying with records retention policies and departmental directives
- Answering departmental phones and assisting with special projects as assigned
