Job Description
The Database Engineer role at Peterson Technologies involves providing technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis. Responsibilities include requirements gathering, project assistance with system improvements, and establishing database structures. This position requires familiarity with PostgreSQL and related technologies.
Requirements
- Ten (10) years’ experience as a DBE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Five (5) years of DBE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and PostGIS.
- Strong SQL skills and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and CLI tools.
- Experience with logical and physical replication, partitioning, and backup strategies.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., pg_stat_statements, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Knowledge of scripting languages for automation and tooling.
