The Fluid Systems Mechanical Technician is responsible for performing the maintenance, operation and commissioning of various fluid systems, including cryogenics and cooling water. The position will primarily support the National Spherical Torus eXperiment Upgrade (NSTX-U) cryogenic plant.
Requirements
- Operate the control console for the NSTX-U cryogenic plant and initiate alarm response procedures if operating parameters fall outside normal ranges or if alarms sound.
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fluid system facilities.
- Fabricate parts as required using a variety of equipment and tools such as: milling machine, lathe, drill press, band saw, and other industrial tools.
- Assist in the set up and operation of pneumatic, mechanical, and electromechanical assemblies for various fluids systems applications.
- Work closely with scientific staff, engineers and other technical staff.
