Job Description
Q-CTRL is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Boulder Opal team. This role involves building and maintaining a backend system for quantum controller infrastructure, translating OpenQASM3 + OpenPulse programs, and bridging the gap between high-level programming and physical execution. The ideal candidate will be passionate about backend engineering, systems programming, and quantum computing, with experience working directly with QPUs.
Requirements
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services in Python.
- Maintain and evolve the compiler stack that translates OpenQASM3 + OpenPulse programs.
- Bridge research and engineering, translating experimental needs into production-ready code.
- Experiment on quantum hardware, validating compiler output and controller behaviors.
- Engineer for performance, delivering high-efficiency service-to-service communication.
- Shape the future stack, defining software practices, tools, and design patterns.
