The Health & Safety Environmental Specialist will coordinate and enforce Environmental, Health & Safety (HSE) programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations, as well as Ravago's HSE program and policies. The role will also be responsible for promoting a safe work environment, conducting regular audits and inspections, and providing training and education to employees.
Requirements
- Practice the principles of food safety, quality, and continuous improvement principles following GFSI guidelines.
- Assess the hazards of manufacturing processes and ensure the implementation of safety systems.
- Maintain, revise and enforce systems and programs to comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety (HSE) and DOT regulations.
- Create and conduct weekly, monthly and quarterly safety audits and inspections.
- Provide timely follow-up on violations and corrective action implementation.
- Conduct health, safety and environmental education as well as DOT education for remote Mays DOT employees and Mays field employees.
- Regularly attend and provide status updates in project planning meetings.
- Conduct incident reporting and investigation findings, and assist in the implementation of appropriate corrective actions.
- Determine causes and execute preventive measures to ensure standard operating procedures are working.
- Oversee the formation and ongoing operations of the local safety committee.
- Lead, monitor and schedule required DOT and field employees in site specific safety training.
- Establish and support facility management in developing initiatives to motivate employees and cultivate the safety culture.
- Develop and maintain a site specific Emergency Response Plan.
- Maintain OSHA 300 log and all environmental permits.
- Maintain (SDS) safety data sheets, and distribute as needed.
- Conduct regular evaluations of the facility to ensure HSE compliance.
- Prepare and present reports of audits to management, HSE and risk management for review.
- Establish rapport with worksite personnel to facilitate effective communication and coaching of best practices and process improvements.
- Review and recommend approval of site specific safety plans, Job Loss Analysis (JLA) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Communicate with dispatch and have an awareness of where all field activities are being conducted daily.
- Review and prepare responses to contractor Safety Requests for Information (RFI's).
- Effectively enforce administrative stop work authority.
- Oversee Learning Management System (LMS) as it relates to HSE new-hire and refresher training.
- Coordinate and work with RHA; Corporate Insurance Manager as needed.
