Job Description
Rocketship Public Schools is seeking an ESL Specialist to ensure ESL students achieve excellence in communication skills. The role involves working with sheltered students in the Language and Learning Lab, designing lesson plans, data analysis, and communicating with teachers and families. The ESL Specialist will use formative and summative data to create lesson plans that meet each student's needs while maintaining close collaboration with classroom teachers and families.
Requirements
- Administer WIDA assessment to all ESL Students
- Create progress monitoring tools for speaking, listening, reading and writing
- Ensure school is language-rich with visual/textual displays
- Design daily lessons incorporating explicit vocabulary and idiom instruction
- Conduct bi-monthly community meetings/open houses
- Report progress to families on a 6-8 week basis
